Expunctions and Non-Disclosures

McKinney, Texas, Lawyers for Expunctions and Nondisclosures

You can't change the stress of a past arrest or criminal conviction, but as experienced lawyers we know that there are legal actions you can take to help you put your best foot forward in the future. At the McKinney, Texas, law firm of Daniel & Harrison PLLC, we help clients with matters related to their criminal records. Our experienced attorneys assist clients with legal procedures like expunction and petitions for nondisclosure, so that you can put your criminal record behind you and move forward with your life.

About Expunctions

An expunction is a cost-effective legal tool that forces criminal justice agencies to destroy all records related to your arrest and prosecution. Often, this can include police reports, files related to your trial, or documentation of jail time. After your records have been expunged, in most circumstances, you do not have to disclose that the criminal event happened.

About Nondisclosures

When Texas courts order nondisclosure of criminal records, criminal justice agencies are prohibited from disclosing information or giving record of an arrest, prosecution, or deferred probation to the public at large. This means that, if your petition for nondisclosure is granted by the court, you can in most circumstances legally deny that the arrest, charge, or deferred probation ever happened. It also means that the information should not appear in any public criminal history record or background search databases.

As lawyers with more than 35 years combined experience in criminal law, we have seen the relief that an expunction and nondisclosure provide. We know that good people make mistakes and good people get wrongly accused, so there is no reason that they should be penalized forever—in jobs, in apartment searches, and in their lives—because of a past event. That's why we work hard to make sure that you can put the past behind you and move forward.
